Thulium Oxide use and synthesis method

Chemical nature

Off-white to pale green powder. It is insoluble in water and can slowly dissolve in strong acid.

use

Activator for fluorescent materials.

Mainly used to manufacture portable x-ray transmission devices. It can also be used as a control material in the reactor.

Used as a phosphor activator and also used to make portable X-ray devices

Scientific research reagents, biochemical research.

It is used for fluorescent material laser agent, electronic industry and scientific research.

production method

The mixed rare earth obtained by decomposing brown yttrium niobium ore contains Y2O3 50% and CeO2 about 4%. The rare earth nitrate solution after removing cerium is fed. N263-LiNO is used. The system is extracted and grouped to obtain yttrium-rich rare earths. The N263-heavy solvent-NH4SCN system extracts and purifies yttrium. The raffinate is yttrium-rich rare earth, and other heavy rare earths thulium, ytterbium, and lutetium enter the organic phase, and then grouped by thulium-lutetium extraction and back extraction, so that thulium and ytterbium enter  the water phase. After oxalic acid precipitation separation, filtration, and burning, thulium oxide is obtained. Its Tm2(C2O4)3→Tm2O3+3CO2+3CO
